AKC Golden Retriever Breeder • Clear Lake, Wisconsin • Est. 2006
Twenty years raising AKC Golden Retrievers, and a way of doing this that puts your family in the driver's seat.
You choose. Nothing is rushed.
No deposit until the puppies are born, and you know your pick the day you place it. No balance until pick-up day. You are welcome to visit the Golden Retriever puppies any time with an appointment; we are an open book. We wait until pick-up day to choose so you know each puppy's personality best, and after eight weeks with them we share everything we have learned. Then you choose. We never choose for you. If the right puppy is not there that day, your deposit moves to the next litter and that is fine. No contract, ever.
A Christian business, built on the Golden Rule.
Rosewood Goldens is a Christian business built on Christian values. We do not hide behind a contract the way most breeders do. We simply take care of every family the way we would want to be treated, because that is the rule we live by.
"So in everything, do to others what you would have them do to you, for this sums up the Law and the Prophets."
Matthew 7:12
You get us, for the life of the dog.
We do not hand over a puppy and say good luck. While you are here we are teaching: what the first three nights look like, how to feed, what is normal and what is not. And after you leave, you have our number. Families text us photos at ten at night and we walk them through it. That does not expire.
Health first, on purpose.
Every Rosewood Golden Retriever is tested through Embark for the roughly 300 known genetic anomalies specific to this breed, and every one of our dogs is anomaly free. We breed on the trimmer side of the AKC standard on purpose, for the joints and the long life. All of our dogs live here with us, in packs, on 27 acres, so you meet both parents in the same place. Licensed by the State of Wisconsin.
The temperament we breed for.
Playful with an off switch. Smart without being trouble. A cuddle monster with an empathetic streak, the kind of dog that ends up in a therapy vest or on the couch with the kid who had a hard day. Colors from medium golden to the darkest red.

Where the name comes from.
Rosewood was my late wife Catie's dream, a stable called Rosewood Stables on this property. The horse families kept admiring our Golden and telling us we should breed them. They were right, and the puppies turned out to be the more joyful work. Rosewood carries her dream forward. It is why I do this the way I do. Matt
We focus on providing the best dog, with the best health, the best genetics, and the best demeanor possible, at a price the average family can afford.
